thoughts & ramblings

Hey Y'all :)

I thought it was about time for something other than bump'dates. Life around here has been semi-crazy. Jas started his last semester of college, PRAISE THE LORD! He is taking the most random classes (criminal justice, anatomy and physiology, college seminar, etc. RANDOM!)  just to pick up the extra 8 credit hours he needs to graduate. It's a pretty easy course load but we are just ready to see the end in sight! He desperately needs to find a good paying J-O-B prior to the arrival of little one so thats a little stressful. I've been working night shift which has been really nice because I'm not feeling so sick while at work and I get so much more sleep throughout the day than I did when I worked day shift and got home at 8pm and was up and down at least 5 times throughout the night going to the bathroom. I'm loving my job and it's given me a whole new perspective on parenthood. yikes! We are definitely coping better with the pregnancy as each day we get a little more excited. We made some progress this week and cleared out the baby's room. Now we are just waiting to find out what little one is and then we will get the show on the road!

A few things I want to challenge myself to start doing more of:
- walking/exercising
-taking more pictures
-spending more time with jason and family
- plan an outing every weekend

week 16

How far along: 16 weeks

Baby size: Avacado

Sleep: Finally found a way to get comfortable at night so it's getting much better! Nap time is still the best sleep I get.

Movement: Feeling some random thumps.

Food cravings/aversions: Nothing this week. Still hate the thought of hamburger meat.

Pregnancy Symptoms: Still very nauseous but definitely not getting sick all day anymore!

What I miss: Energy. Fitting in my clothes. Days without gagging. Memory. (same as last week)

What I'm looking forward to:   Finding out the sex of out baby and buying some bigger purchases for baby like car seat and crib!

Milestones: This week baby is able to hear, as the inner ear bones are formed! Hopefully this will mean it will be very familiar with dogs barking!

Best moment this week:  Did an ultrasound and could see the baby moving around like crazy! First started in the frog position and then kicked both legs straight out followed by some crazy arm movements!

Moments with Jason: Jas has been really into seeing and feeling my belly lately and I think it's pretty adorable!

15 weeks

I totally missed week 14 but seriously who wants to read what each boring week of my pregnancy is like anyways? During week 14 we revealed to EVERYONE (work and the FB world) that we were expecting!!
We announced on FB because it was bound to get out and I wanted it to be from us and not someone else.
We said:            2010- marrying the love of my life COST: way too much $
2011- graduated college and am and official RN COST: way way too much $
                             2012- meeting baby COST: PRICELESS!!
We also did a quick ultrasound at work one night and I got to see little one stretch, hiccup, and move it's feet and hands all over! Seeing it thrive inside of me makes it all so real and much more exciting!

How far along: 15 weeks

Baby size: Naval Orange

Sleep: Getting more uncomfortable because my bump is popping out and I can no longer get away with sleeping on my belly. I told Jas not to buy me a body pillow because we use tons of pillows anyways but now I may be regretting that decision.

Movement: I definitely felt a flutter or thump this week!! They are so spaced out that it comes and goes before I even realize what it was.

Food cravings/aversions: Absolutely loving soup! Craving fruity summer time drinks.. I'm always thirsty that something fresh and fruity sounds SO delish.

Pregnancy Symptoms: I'm still getting sick pretty frequently. I thought this had disappeared but apparently I will be one of the lucky few that are sick throughout the entire pregnancy. My energy is creeping back but not in full force.

What I miss: Energy. Fitting in my clothes. Days without gagging. Memory.

What I'm looking forward to:   Finding out the sex of out baby!

Milestones: Baby is growing like crazy and I feel like I'm running out of room!

Best moment this week:  This week has been a rough week for my family as one of my cousins was seriously injured. Thankful to be surrounded by family and support. Knowing that this baby will bring joy to their lives and mine.

Moments with Jason: Seeing how excited he was to see little one moving around on the video of the ultrasound we did last week was definitely a memory I'll never forget.

Sleep: Some days are better than others.

Movement: Nothing for sure, maybe some flutters? Probably not!

Food cravings/aversions:  I've had an aversion to all food this week since Jas and I have gotten to stomach bug :(

Pregnancy Symptoms:  Can't really tell if I've got any pregnancy symptoms since I've been sick from the stomach bug.

What I miss: A clean house. I'm waiting to see if the second trimester really does bring more energy..crossing fingers it does because I feel like i've neglected life.

What I'm looking forward to:   Our next appointment. I'm switching Ob/Gyn's due to insurance so I'm a little nervous about all of that. Hoping we can schedule an appointment soon and that all is well :)

Milestones: Last week of the first trimester is ALMOST done!! My bump popped out this week and I must say it is kind of odd to see when looking down!

Best moment this week:  The end of this week is the beginning of 2012!! Which is exciting because it means we are closer to finding out if little nugget is a boy/girl and meeting little on!

Moments with Jason: This week we have been talking more about preparing for little one.. kinda exciting!

You can't see it but it's there!
Yes, there is a bump!

11 weeks preggoooooo

Movement: Notta!

Food cravings/aversions:  Today I'd really like a cold pickle..yum! Aversions- meat. I just don't have any desire to cook meat or eat meat for that matter.

Pregnancy Symptoms: Thanks Phenergan and preggie pops I've not had any nausea or vomiting this week! Praise the Lord!

What I miss:  I miss having energy. I need a nap daily and if I don't get it i'm a zombie. I'm also really missing my brain. I feel like I'm way more forgetful than EVER before..not to mention EXTRA moody this week. (That's pretty normal though..LOL)

What I'm looking forward to:   Spending the holidays with family & 2nd trimester is right around the corner..yay!

Milestones: This week I got my doppler and I was able to hear the baby moving around and a heart beat at home!

Best moment this week:  Definitely hearing the baby via doppler!

Moments with Jason: Ok ok.. here we go again.. seeing Jas's face when he heard little one moving all around inside. He just looked so happy and excited. He is going to be such a great dad!

Happy 11 weeks! (No bump yet!)

1st doctors visit for little nugget

On December 5th Jas and I got to see out little one on ultrasound. I was very nervous about the unknown but it went really well. Thankfully, there is only ONE little one moving around in there and NOT two so I'm very very excited about that. Initially the ultrasound tech was just "practicing"(she was new) and dated us at 9 weeks and 3 days which I knew was NOT even close and then the seasoned ultrasound tech came back in and redid the ultrasound. We got to see little one again and she dated us at 10 weeks and 1 day which gives us a due date of July 1st (hubby's birthday)... Our little one was about the size of a chick-fil-a nugget and had a great heartbeat of 167 bpm! We got to see it wiggle around a little bit and wave at us.

Everything looked great and we left very happy. Unfortunately, we wont have another ultrasound until 20'ish weeks so I'm kind of sad we won't get to see little one grow bigger week by week. I did purchase a doppler so that we could find baby's heartbeat at home. I'm excited for that to come in and play around with it.

I'm switching doctors because of insurance reasons and because I want to deliver at the hospital I work at so I know my baby is getting taken care of by all of my wonderful coworkers. So my next appointment will be with a new doctor and I'm hoping everything goes great.. maybe I'll even get another ultrasound!

Little Nugget

10 weeks

How far along: 10 weeks

Baby size: Prune

Sleep: Not so great unfortunately.

Movement: Nope!

Food cravings/aversions:  Cravings come and go. Today it's concession stand nachos...seriously don't even know where that came from!

Pregnancy Symptoms: Nausea and Vomiting aka the WORST pregnancy symptoms EVER!

What I miss:  Feeling normal. I am lacking energy and there hasn't been a day that I feel good enough to get up get ready and go out of the house.

What I'm looking forward to:   Monday we have our first ultrasound! Pretty excited to officially see there is something in there. Also the second trimester is just a few short weeks away and I cannot wait to see if that means I will feel normal again!

Milestones: I didn't get sick everyday this week! Huge success :)

Best moment this week:  Feeling like I actually might look a little bit pregnant...maybe I just look fatter. Either way it is what it is!

Moments with Jason: This week we put up our Christmas tree! I LOVE this time of year!

9 weeks

How far along: 9 weeks

Baby size: olive

Sleep: I worked a lot this week so I was up early and continuously up to pee throughout the night. Needless to say sleep was not very great.

Movement: Nope!

Food cravings/aversions: No cravings. Foods I'm liking this week: Yobe Frozen Yogurt and Chicken Noodle Soup Broth.

Pregnancy Symptoms: Morning Sickness!
*Disclaimer*
Anyone who thinks that morning sickness and vomiting are the same thing. Totally wrong! Morning sickness lasts all day and, for myself,  it's more nausea than vomiting. Because I'm nauseous I don't eat anything and then my body will try and vomit with no success.

What I miss:  Jeans that fit. I haven't gained weight yet but where my pants button is just WAY too tight and too firm to button with comfort.

What I'm looking forward to:  An ultrasound!

Milestones: I survived a 5 day work week without getting the nasty stomach bug that is going around!

Best moment this week:  Realizing I'm in the 3rd month of pregnancy! Wow.

Moments with Jason: My hubby has been taking such great care of me. He gets up with me every time I'm sick. Holds my hair back, gets a cold towel for my neck, and a cup of water to ease my stomach.

8 weeks

Surprise! As many of you found out a few days ago we are expecting. We are still in shock and adjusting to this new phase of life. There have been days that I have totally lost it and thought there is no way I am ready to be a parent. I'm too selfish. We want to travel and have fun like others our age. And there are days that I've come to grips with reality and know that if anyone can do this, we can! I truly believe that whatever happens, happens for a reason. I know that if anyone knows how to take care of a newborn and young child, that is me. And there is no one more capable of caring for a teenager than my crazy kid-like  youth minister husband. We have decided to do weekly or bi-weekly posts  (like the one below) to document this new journey. You might not get bare belly shots until its evident there is a bun in the oven and I'm not just fat. But we promise to post pictures with each posting so you can watch along with us how fast baby grows!

How far along: 8 weeks

Baby size: raspberry

Sleep: sucks! I have to get up every few hours to pee and I’m always nauseous when I wake up.

Movement: Nope!

Food cravings/aversions: Seeing food on TV makes me really nauseous. Saltines are my friend but no real cravings.

Pregnancy Symptoms: Super nauseous all day, everyday. Cross my fingers I've only actually gotten sick a few times.

What I miss:  The energy to get up and go. Sleep. My list goes on and on but really the biggest thing would be not feeling so sick to my stomach all the time.

What I'm looking forward to:  Our first ultrasound in December!

Milestones: First doctors visit which consisted of 1000 questions and NO ultrasound.. I was not a happy camper. Its just hard to believe I'm actually pregnant without seeing proof.

Best moment this week:  Having one whole day of feeling absolutely normal! What what!

Moments with Jason: Jason has been so good to me. Every time I’m sick or not feeling well he gets me whatever I need and doesn’t make me lift a hand. Super love this guy! He is going to be a rock star dad!

Unexpected Anniversary Gift

October 26, 2005 was a super crazy day for Jason and me. We were getting to know each other more and that night at Taco Bell he decided to ask me if I wanted to date.. Yes. Just like that "Jen, do you wanna date?" paha! I laugh now because that's just Jas. Today we celebrate 6 years together which is amazes me completely! I am more in love with that man than ever before. He is such a great husband and such a great best friend. We've had some really hard times in the last 6 years but they have only made us stronger. To say the least our relationship has been everything BUT normal. We started dating young, went to college, got married in college, had 2 puppies that took up a lot of our time, and very rarely did we get to hang out with people our age, we both had to grow up and learn how to manage on our own. It's been a long hard road but so very worth it.

October 26, 2011 will be a day we will remember FOREVER! Today we found out our world will never be normal. We found out we were pregnant. To say this was an udder surprise is an understatement. Were we jumping for joy? Not so much. I cried and cried and cried some more. And thought to myself I thought it wasn't that easy. We were using methods to prevent this and all I could think was seriously? seriously? I mean you hear of people having such a hard time getting pregnant but apparently we are very fertile.  I cannot tell you how often people ask me working in a nursery do you have kids? My response is always, "NOPE! I can get my baby fix here at work and then go home and hang out with my hubby." Well little did I know there were other plans for my life. This will be a period of adjusting and craziness. My life has never been easy and I expect it to get a little harder but one thing the last 6 years has shown me is that with Jas I can get through anything.

It's funny how life changes. This blog initially was a way for us to blog our wedding journey and as life goes on and time passes us by this will now be a blog of our parenthood journey.

I know nothing about pregnancy. I know a heck of a lot about newborns but after they are 6 months old I have no idea what to do. To say the least this is going to be a long journey.
Yes, I did just post my pee stick on the internet...
